“You do art for a living! That’s so cool! You do what you love! How could that ever be a bad thing!? OMG I WISH I WAS YOU” No, you don’t. It’s just like running any other business; there is paperwork, there are taxes, you have to be minutely organized, you have to save receipts which means you need room and organizational skills, you need patience, you need people skills unless you have an ace agent, you need frugality and the ability to budget, you need attention to detail and an attention span longer than twenty seconds. You need the ability to set long term goals and reach them. You need to be able to take a blow to your ego head on and keep walking forward with your chin up. I love what i do, but never fool yourself that this “is not real work”.
